In keeping with the food theme for July (I’ve made it to day 2! Woohoo!) I would like to share my mixer lust – I really, really, really want a KitchenAid Stand Mixer. (Really?)
Do I need it? No. Of course not! Do I lust after it and surreptitiously try to smuggle them out of friends’ houses while they’re not looking? Yes! I mean, of course not. *ahem*
Let me tell you what I would use this mixer for – making bread. I know what you’re thinking. I make bread already, so why would I need a 20+ pound behemoth hulking on the counter in my already-too-small galley kitchen? Especially considering I actually enjoy kneading the dough! I’ll tell you why – it’s the stirring I can’t stand. Every time I think about making bread, I think about the stirring and how tired my arm gets and then I reconsider. (And usually reconsider again and end up making it anyway, cursing the stirring process the whole time.) And there are some breads that I just flat out won’t make anymore – like anadama , which I love, but which requires a small army to properly mix. The only problem is that the mixers cost about as much as I spend on groceries in a given month. So, I could buy the mixer and then mix a whole lot of…nothing.
Christmas is coming soon, right? Right?
