brussels sprouts with bacon and mustard cream sauce

Today was my birthday! And it didn’t suck! I was a little worried, what with the weather and H being super sick and all. (Seriously, y’all, last night was a little frightening.) But today dawned slushy and rainy instead of icy, and H was vastly improved, though certainly not well. Regardless, he was well enough to go to daycare, so I packed him and his sister off to their respective schools and took off on my own for the day!

I got coffee and knitted for a while. I had lunch with my dad & step-mom at The Blue Spoon, which was amazingly delicious. I got those brussels sprouts with bacon and a mustard cream sauce for an appetizer and they were the best darn thing I’ve put in my mouth for a good long time. Then I headed over to my mom’s and she brought me book shopping. After I dropped her off, I went to the mall (ugh) where I realized an old friend works at Sephora (yay!) and he hooked me up with tons of free stuff. I got ridiculously expensive (but wonderful) eye cream and a sample of this stuff, which is totally bizarre and creepy and yet now my skin feels like a baby’s bottom.

And then…I bought shoes! I got these and these and they were on stupid sale so together they cost less than half of what one pair would normally cost. Woohoo!

Ordered pizza for dinner. Talked to my sister for an hour. Going to bed early. All in all, an excellent day.
